Resfood visiting ANUGA - 2023

For the first time this year we are simply visitors to this exhibition. And we have a great report for you straight fr om the scene.

Thanks to its grand scale, ANUGA is rightly considered the leading event in the food industry worldwide.

ANUGA is a whole city with an area of almost 250 thousand m², 11 pavilions, many on 2 and 3 floors!

The frequency of the exhibition is once every 2 years, the exhibition always takes place in early October and starts on Saturday. The first ANUGA was held in 1924, and the concept of "10 exhibitions under one roof" was introduced at ANUGA in 2003 and has been constantly developed and expanded since then.

Our tips-for-trips for visitors to major exhibitions:

1️⃣Download the official exhibition application - it’s really useful.

2️⃣ Tickets to the exhibition can be snatched at a 50% discount if you use a promotional code and purchase them in advance. A promotional code can be obtained from a familiar exhibitor, and the organizers also provide their own discount coupons. Sometimes you can even get free tickets, but not in the case of ANUGA. A one-day ticket on site will cost 80 euros.

3️⃣Stock up on business cards - they are still relevant, despite the application wh ere participants can scan each other’s QR business cards.

4️⃣ Don’t be shy about your English - this problem is typical only for our compatriots. Often, entrepreneurs from other countries communicate and understand each other, having an A2/B1 level. For complex terms and exotic names, use online translators. Wi-Fi works everywhere here.

5️⃣ If you came in a large group, break into pairs. This will make it more convenient to move around in a crowd, and negotiation stands do not always accommodate an entire delegation.

6️⃣ A backpack and comfortable shoes are a must have. The dress code has long become more casual; a business suit is optional.

7️⃣ Try too exotic food and drinks only if you are confident in your stomach, and alcohol - if you are confident in your abilities.

8️⃣In one day you will be able to go around only 2-3 pavilions (at an average pace, with stops at interesting stands). If you have meetings and negotiations planned, then divide by two. Accept that you will not have time to see the entire exhibition, and plan in advance which pavilions to visit. For example, we walked past dairy products, meat and other non-core stands for us.

9️⃣ Mark which pavilions you have already visited so as not to get lost.

1️⃣0️⃣ Culinary shows are rarely prepared and held at large exhibitions. But you can always try what interests you.

1️⃣1️⃣ If you need samples, feel free to ask. As a last resort, you will be asked to come pick them up on the closing day of the exhibition.

1️⃣2️⃣ For those who came straight from the plane to the exhibition, there is a luggage storage room. Leave your suitcases there until the end of the day.

1️⃣3️⃣Take pictures of everything. First, separate products, then a business card, a catalog. And then everything together. This way you won't get confused when sorting through your notes. By the way, grab a power bank.

1️⃣4️⃣ You shouldn’t negotiate for more than 30 minutes at the stand; it’s better to invite them to dinner if you have a lot to discuss.

1️⃣5️⃣ It is on Anuga that everything is smooth with transport connections. But if you are at Sial Paris, then know that leaving it is a real challenge and there are big crushes.
